This project aims at encouraging children for a non-formal preparatory education. These children are otherwise likely to be engaged in child labor or other menial labor at a very early age and can never expect to go to a school due to poverty and traditional attitudes. Volunteers from Literacy India talk and counsel parents to let their children attend our schools. The essence of the curriculum is to generate and sustain children's interest in education and their keenness to continue to attend school.

Literacy India, following on experimental educational approach captures the interest of these children through classroom contacts, excursions, and inspirational interaction with well-known personalities. This is superimposed with extra-curricular programs, which span a wider socio-cultural horizon, which transforms into a learning process in itself.

Vidyapeeth began with the nursery classes and now is a full-fledged school up to Class-V. Vidyapeethaims at encouraging children for a non-formal preparatory education. Vidyapeeth situated at Village Chauma, Gurgaon, successfully completed five years in April 2005. During this period the number of children increased from 70 to 450.

STRATEGY
