ITS THEIR CRAFT, ITS THEIR CREATIVITY, THEIR IDENTITY AND EMPOWERMENT.
Indha means, ‘The Broad Base’ on which the Village woman carries number of water pots over her head. Same broad base, in literal term, will enable these women to carry a load of many things together.
The idea of Project Indha evolved from the rising financial crisis in the families caused due to unemployment and many social evils. Youth also seemed to be disillusioned due to lack of work.
Therefore, through women empowerment program and with a target to form strong working groups of women belongings to various villages of Gurgoan, Haryana, a self help group was formed in November 2004 where in over 100 women from our vocational skill training centers in the villages came together.
INDHA aims at creating community based livelihood enhancement models to achieve reduction in poverty in rural and semi urban areas in Gurgaon district in Haryana on a sustainable basis. Its purpose is to enable most vulnerable groups of the villages to contribute more effectively to the development of their communities by adapting to various skills. Generally, the poorest and the marginalized sections are otherwise excluded or exclude themselves from such activities because the compulsions of meeting the immediate survival needs becomes their primary task.
The project objectives are to
Improve the income status of the poor through production support and skill training,
Raise confidence and initiative level to take to new skills and areas of work to enhance their social and economic status.
To raise funds for other projects of Literacy India.
